Facebook’s Instagram has broadcasted a new feature termed ‘Pinch to Zoom’ that would come into action as a part of an update ‘in the forthcoming weeks’ on Android. The exciting feature has already started working out on Instagram for iOS as a part of the v9.2 update. “Today we’re bringing ZOOM to Instagram on iOS! Pinch to Zoom on photos & videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore,” announced Instagram on Twitter.
What is Pinch to Zoom ?
‘Pinch to Zoom’, as the name says it all, will let users pinch-to-zoom on images and videos that are posted by others on their Instagram feed and the ones that show up in the ‘Explore’ section of the app. It works on profiles as well, according to Instagram. When zooming a media file on Instagram, a light box effect takes place and the image pops out of the original frame.
Moreover the ‘Pinch-to-Zoom’ feature, the Instagram for iOS update also introduces a new low-light button under its fairly new ‘Stories’ feature. The button appears automatically when the user is capturing images and videos in low-light conditions. By tapping on the button, it would improve the lighting conditions when required. To add to the update, some bug fixes also come as a part of the app update.
“Snapchat-like” feature available in Instagram now
Instagram Stories were introduced by the app last month. The “Snapchat–like” feature provides users the choice to make pictures and videos to expire automatically after exact 24 hours.
Instagram, which has more than 500 million members, said the new feature does not permit users to “like” an image or post a comment, but followers can send direct messages to the uploader.
Instagram Stories acquired its first update within couple of weeks since the launch of the in demand app. The update lets users to zoom in while recording videos and switch between the front- and rear-facing cameras easily.
