Google is planning to make some changes in its search and ranking algorithms to make it a lot more easier for mobile sites to rank above desktop-based websites. According to company’s claims majority of the Google Search users are accessing it through their mobile devices rather than their desktops which makes it more obvious of the fact why the firm is focusing on helping mobile sites outrank desktop ones.
Google’s algorithm till date was made to index the desktop version of a website and ranks that site’s pages for content in desktop mode rather than that of mobile users but with the next update everything will be the other way around as per reports.
Till now site admins tried to keep the desktop version of their sites fresh and updated because this was the only segment that ranked, leaving the low ranking mobile version of the same site with poor content which ultimately affected the user only as today majority of the people use their mobile devices to search over Google, which means they would be getting search results of those sites which are ranking good (because of being the desktop version) but as per Google’s policies every desktop site converts to its mobile version when a mobile user clicks over it ultimately landing the user on a less updated mobile version of the same website. With this move, Google wants to make sure that the site admin focuses more on his site’s mobile version rather than the desktop version of the same, so as to provide the end user with correct and updated information.
And this all ends up here. So, if you are having a desktop only website then don’t waste your time and make a mobile version of the same too.
