According to the Playstation maker Sony Corp, the sales of their Playstation 4 has touched the 50 Million worldwide sales mark as on 6th December 2016, greatly helped by the year-end holiday season. They stated that in this holiday event their PS4 saw a great demand in the youth.
Seems like not only Apple is the one who enjoyed a booming holiday season as Sony Corp statements state that their Playstation 4 units saw a boom in sales in the year end sale that reached the 50 Million mark as on 6th December 2016. The PS4 is till now the highest selling console from the firm as per the sources. The same was launched in 2013, precisely on 15 November 2013 in the United States and till now the craze about the console and not ended and it doesn’t seem to end either. The console landed on Indian shores in January 2014.
According to Cnet’s report, the 50 million sales mark is the combined sales of Original Ps4, the slimmed version of the same named Ps4 Slim and the new Ps4 Pro. Talking about the slim version off the Playstation 4, then it is said to be much more energy efficient than the original one. It is also cheaper than the original one, costing around $300, which is less than $350 that we had to pay for the previous version. The same was live on sale on 15 September 2016. The PlayStation 4 Pro on the other hand costs around $400 and went on sale on 10 November 2016.
The thing that’s new in Ps4 that also makes it the expensive one is that offers 4K gaming and is capable of displaying hyper-realistic graphics and immersive visuals as long as it is connected to an HDR, or High Definition TV.
Andrew House who is the President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment in a press statement stated, “We’re truly delighted that the PS4 community continues to flourish since launch three years ago. We will continue to provide the best gaming experiences available as we focus on accelerating our business and expanding the PS4 ecosystem.”
