Amazon India is an E-commerce giant and we all know how far their reach goes and keeping this in mind Dharma Productions an eminent production house in Bollywood owned by Karan Johar has come up with an agreement with Amazon India on Monday which will surely give a rise to the “movie” catalogue of Amazon.
In Depth Analysis Of The Agreement
According to the agreement, all the new movies of Dharma Productions would be available for subscription on online subscription service “Prime India” led by the E-commerce giant.
The movies that would be available for subscription for now once they release are, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, “Ok Jaanu” featuring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor and at last “Badrinath Ki Dulhania”, featuring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.
This deal would be available to everyone who is a subscriber of prime services by Amazon, and as we know Prime is offering 60 days free access to the service then it is almost free for all for the next 60 days at least once this agreement comes to “implementation” stage.
Nitesh Kripalani, Director and Country Head at Amazon Video India stated, “We are excited to have Dharma Productions’s library and future slate of titles for the upcoming launch of Prime Video, We know our Prime members are going to love the broad selection of films and stories – everything from soulful romance to heartfelt and funny family stories – that Dharma does so well.”
While Apporva Mehta CEO at Dharma Productions, stated, “We have kept a close eye on the explosion of digital media, and the increased consumption trends of Bollywood content on Video-On-Demand and OTT Platforms”. “We at Dharma felt that the time couldn’t be more right for us to mark our presence on such sought after platforms. We are confident that partnering with a credible brand like Amazon will go a long way in ensuring that our content will not only be seamlessly streamed, but will also see a huge demand from users of Prime Video.”
The library of movies would also be including other hits by Dharma Productions but with time, at present the above listed movies are shortlisted only as per report.
