According to the latest report by The Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) there are reports of around 50 IT companies under the threat of cyber attacks. These threats are said to coming from Pakistani Hackers.
According to a report by The Times Of India, The Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) reported that around 50 IT companies in India were affected due to the cyber attacks that are said to be done by Pakistani Hackers. The report also states that the information was stolen using “Ransomware” software and in order to hand back the decryption keys, certain amount of “Bitcoins” were demanded. Bitcoin is a kind of currency which is used by techno savvy people; it is a digital currency and has one thing that also attracts the darker side of the web to use it as their primary source of income. That one thing is the “non-trace ability” of the particular currency. This currency can’t be traced by even Government agencies and that’s why at this time too those hackers demanded of Bitcoins in return of the information.
Devraj Wodeyar who is the Head of Cyber Security Forum that is under The Society of Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) stated, “A few of these attacks have been sorted out although majority are still being tackled. It is a sudden spurt in Ransomware attacks. Almost all the attacks in the last 10 days have originated from Pakistan.”
Some companies tired to reach SCSC directly while some in fear of privacy disclosure went the other way and asked private firms to contact SCSC from their side and asked them not to reveal their identity to media.
The report also states, “Explaining the method of attacks, officials said the proxy servers were changed every five minutes, but somehow the ethical hackers team managed to nail the location of the actual attackers through IP addresses, the port used and the network node,”
Cyberabad reportedly has around 2500 IT companies under its territory, and most of these firms are there to provide solutions to businesses across the globe.
The report also states that there’s one such firm in the list that was demanded around 1 Lakhs Bitcoins which comes up at around 420 Crores of Indian Rupees!!
Now this is huge.
