US Open: It’s Djokovic vs. Nadal:
It’s once again Djokovic vs. Nadal. We have already witnessed them go against each other for a couple of times now, but this time, is being drawn. The defending champion is going to clash with the two-time title winner in the Semi Final of the US Open. Novak Djokovic, known for defending and who is one of the big four has been suffering from a drastic wrist injury since the loss of first round at the Olympics. He then began his winning campaign against Jerzy Janowicz, a Poland, tennis player.
The Big Four are fading out:
Janowicz, who has been a semi-finalist at the Wimbledon in 2013 as well has been suffering from knee pain since few months and as a result, his rank started slumping down, and now he is at 228 on a global level. Rafa on the other hand, the Olympic gold medalist is now in doubles. He has missed the Wimbledon due to the same wrist injury which happened while he was facing Denis Istomin, an Uzbekistan tennis player in the 1st round. Talking about the other two of Big Four, Andy Murray; who won is 2012 is going to start against Lukas Rosol, the Czech player. The two already went so harsh against each other last year in Munich and according to Murray, Rosol is the most hateful player in the world.
Stan Wawrinka is shining:
Roger Federer, who is missing the tournament because of his knee is staying calm this season his position is replaced by Swiss Stan Wawrinka who is going to start against Fernando Verdasco and Nick Kyrgios in the 16th round. By the way, things are going with Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray; it seems like the big four eras is finally going to end and the youngsters are replacing them. It’s the same as it happened with Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag. Let’s hope for a silver lining in the game with players like Wawrinka who might be able to keep the game’s pace up.
