Sania Mirza and Monica Niculescu won the Connecticut Open:

Sania Mirza had a confidence enhancer just before appearing for the US Open. She has won the Connecticut Open that happened on Monday with Monica Niculescu.  Niculescu and Sania have capped their first title together with their rekindled partnership of doubles and has set the straight victory against Chuang Chia-Jung of Taiwan and Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine in the Connecticut open final. The Romanian-India pair won the clash with 7-5 and 6-4 by playing the game for the whole 1 and half hour.

After pocketing the first set with 7-5, Niculescu and Sania Mirza won the second too and lifted the trophy grandly with a 6-4 score. The last time Niculescu and Sania partnered was way back in 2010, and it has been six years ever since they joined forces. In 2010, they played together as partners in the Western Open and Southern Open quarterfinals. After being popular in the game, Sania recently played partners with Martina Hingis of Switzerland and Barbora Strycova, a Czech player in the last week. She won both the tournaments as a team while in the later she defeated Hingis who paired with Coco Vandeweghe of America.

Despite winning it, Niculescu and Sania Mirza made it clear that they are only going to be partnered just for a short time and they will get back with their regular teammates for the US Open. Sania, the now World Number 1 says that she’s going to play Barbora Strycova in the US Open. While Monica Niculescu said that she’s going to play with Vania King and both of them wished that it should not be last time they play together. Regarding how they teamed up, it’s Niculescu who asked Sania to team with her back in Cincinnati, and she said yes without any delay. They won the tournament and their games just complement each other and suit each other. They have the rhythm about each other. Let’s see if Sania is going to win the US open, too!
