Group A in the UEFA Champions League will feature two top-placed teams, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates stadium in a late night encounter on Wednesday night according to IST time. A victory over the French champions at home would ensure that Arsene Wenger’s side tops its Champions League group for the first time in seven years. In the reverse fixture which was held back in September in the French capital, Arsenal had managed to sneak in a draw despite being the second best team in terms of performance over the entire 90 minutes.
“I believe that the two teams have done the job until now every time it was expected.” Wenger was quoted as saying to IBT in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “We have done it away from home and now we can finish the job at home, and of course we want to do it. We got a draw there, now it’s just down to us to win the game tomorrow.
“We have done the job until the end in a convincing way. I believe that when you play 1-1 away from home and you play at home it’s a luxury to be qualified after four games. Last year we had to battle until the end and this season we can finish the job after five games and that would mean we have done really well.”
Like their rivals, PSG has won all their encounters barring the draw on the opening day and are coming into this match on the back of three wins in their domestic league.
Arsenal will miss the services of Hector Bellerin, Santi Cazorla, Lucas Perez, Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker who are all currently sidelined with injuries.
For PSG, Javier Pastore and Adrien Rabiot are expected to miss out on the match while there are doubts surrounding Angel Di Maria, Alphonse Areola and Layvin Kurzawa.
