India vs England: Parthiv Patel replaces Saha for the 3rd Test, returns after 8 Years

Parthiv Patel, the 31-year-old wicketkeeper batsman, is set for a Test comeback after eight years as he has been named as substitution for Wriddhiman Saha for the third Test amongst India and England in Mohali beginning from Saturday (November 26).

BCCI medical team confirms that India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha developed a strain in his left thigh during the second match of the five match Paytm Test Series-2016, played against England at Visakhapatnam,” a BCCI media release stated.

“As a precautionary measure, Saha has been advised rest and will not play in the next Test match of the series. Parthiv Patel will replace Saha in the Indian team for the third Test to be played from November 26, 2016, at Mohali,” the release added.

Parthiv, who made his Test first appearance against England in 2002, was the most youthful wicketkeeper in Test history at 17 years 152 days. The left-hander averages 29.69 with 683 runs, incorporating four half-hundredsin the five-day international format. His last worldwide appearance was amid an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2012.

Parthiv’s incorporation in the Indian group needs to do with the way that he has been in great shape in the continuous Ranji Trophy season, having scored 415 keeps running at an average of 59.28, including a century and three fifties in five matches.
