Dale Steyn at No 1 in ICC Test Bowler Rankings 2016:
Ravichandran Ashwin who used to be the top bowler in the ICC Test rankings has now dropped to the 3rd place but remained as the first Indian bowler with high pace to be in the list in the recent version of ICC Test rankings that has been released on Wednesday. Ajinkya Rahane, on the other hand, remained at the same 8th position in the list of batsmen and also has been the lone Indian to be in the top 10 of the batsmen. While Ravindra Jadeja is holding the 8th position by giving company to Ashwin on the list of top 10.
Ravichandran Ashwin to slip to 3rd position after Steyn’s return:
Dale Steyn, the South African bowler, is back to number one and is standing at the top of the list of ICC top bowlers after the Centurion Test in which he helped the team to get a 204 run win against New Zealand. Dale Steyn, who had a five-wicket haul for just 33 runs in the second innings with which he completed 99 for 8. By this, he regained his position of No 1. Dale Steyn reclaimed No one rank back in 2014 at the same Centurion after a win against Australia. He continued the holding it until he had a shoulder injury in 2015 during the Duncan Test.
India is holding the 2nd rank in overall Test Rankings:
Ashwin in the absence of Dale Steyn’s absence backed up by many remarkable performances stood out as the top bowler, in the last year. James Anderson is the second top bowler in the list. However, Steyn also is now having a record of holding the number one position for 2,320 days which has been the most by any since the time of World War II. Talking about overall rankings, Pakistan is the top team standing as No 1, following by India; New Zealand has slipped to 7th; South Africa hiked to 5th with the win.
