UN proclaimed APJ Abdul Kalam’s birthday as ‘World Students Day’. Precisely, APJ Abdul Kalam was the most loved president of India. He was a scientist who made India proud with his missile defense program.

- He grabbed every opportunity to teach students, especially children as he loved children. It was the year 2010 when United Nations decided to mark the India’s former President and great scientist and declared his birthday as ‘Worlds Students Day’.
- Students across the nation looked up to him. His inspiring quotes are still shared on social networking sites. His sudden death on July 27, 2015, was a shock to the nation but Kalam died doing what he loved the most: teaching.
- While delivering a lecture to the students of IIM Shillong, Kalam fell down the stage suffering a stroke and passed away immediately. Irrespective of caste, creed location or religion, the entire nation grieved his demise. Even DR. Kalam expressed his wish to be remembered as a teacher to the people.
- Acharya stated, “Poverty was a challenge, not a hindrance and Kalam became an achiever and icon to people of India especially to the youth.” He said the former president’s death was “a great loss to our nation and also to the world”.
A scientist of global repute, Kalam was respected by the whole world. Kalam visited Switzerland in 2005, after which the country declared May 26 to be observed as ‘Science Day’ as a mark of respect and in honor of his visit.
