Facebook has been criticized by US President, Barack Obama for spreading fake news about this year’s presidential elections. He stated that as soon as anything like a lie is over the website people see it and starts believing it as the truth covering the real truth beneath what’s being told to them by fake websites.
US President Barack Obama has come forward to talk about something which was known to all some talked about it but rarely did it ever see some light. The topic that Mr. Obama has talked about is the way fake news is being spread over the social networking website, Facebook. He stated that there is being news spread all over Facebook about the present presidential elections in the United States.
Barack Obama laid his words while speaking at a rally for Hillary Clinton at University of Michigan on Monday, He stated: “The way campaigns have unfolded, we just start accepting crazy stuff as normal and people if they just repeat attacks enough and outright lies over and over again.
As long as it’s on Facebook, and people can see it, as long as its on social media, people start believing it, and it creates this dust cloud of nonsense,”
Media Website BuzzFeed when investigated this matter found out that, around 38 percent of posts shared from three “large” right-wing politics pages on Facebook included “false or misleading information”.
Going deeper in the report we found out that the teenagers in Macedonia create fake, Trump news stories that go viral on Facebook paying them with some clicks but resulting in injecting wrong and misleading information in the reader’s mind.
What’s more is that people are being encouraged to vote for their favorite candidate via text message which is stupidly incorrect and misleading and can never ever be made possible.
Like every time even this time Facebook told that it is constantly working over removing misleading information from their Newsfeed algorithm and make their filters much strict towards all this but only time will tell when it will be applied for real.
It’s not only about fake news about these elections; fake news has always been a “trend” over social networking sites. People post all these just to earn some dollars out of the clicks to their posts but they don’t understand that many people get hurt validating that fake news thinking it to be real.
Try to refrain yourself from spreading fake news.
