Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home, is allegedly involved in a Rs 450 crore hydel project of Arunachal Pradesh.Opposition parties have found this opportunity to malign his image. They are also demanding his resignation. It was reported initially that Kiren Rijiju and and his cousin are involved in a Rs 450 crore hydel project scam.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that “The minister must resign and a high level independent probe must be ordered. Inquiry into 28 minute conversation between Satish Verma and Rijiju’s cousin should also be probed.”
Aam Aadmi Party member Ashish Khetan also said that “the Minister must be removed and a high level probe should be ordered.”
In a very shocking development, a Gujarat-cadre IPS officer Satish Verma has alleged that his services as the Central Vigilance Officer (CVO) of a power corporation were shortened due to his findings of a transportation scam worth Rs 450 crore.
This scam also involves Rijiju’s cousin as well as a fraudulent land deal in Gujarat.
Mr. Verma’s tenure was surprisingly shortened by almost a year in July. He was also put on notice for “misconduct” and “unauthorized absence” from duty by the Home Ministry. He has submitted a 129-pager report to CVC, CBI and Ministry of Power about this alleged scam.
He also alleged of an elaborate conspiracy which involves contractors, NEEPCO officials and the West Kameng district administration. This conspiracy may extent upto Rs 450 crore.
Kiren Rijiju lost his cool when asked about the scam. He responded that “Ye jo plant kar rahe hain news, wo hamare yahan jootay khaageyenge.” If translated into English, he said that these news traders will be beaten with shoes in Arunachal Pradesh.
The minister said that “I just asked the Power Minister to look into the matter. My intent was to help people in his constituency who complained that their payments were blocked. Most of the payments were made before we (BJP) formed government.”
