The awaited upcoming Bollywood film on celebrity cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is actually a living biography of the player, shows how a ticket collector is now collecting accolades worldwide with his talent of playing. The movie is directed and screenplay by Neeraj Panday, starer Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role as MS Dhoni.
All along with this, Sushant Singh Rajput says, MS Dhoni is himself is a great actor. “He (Dhoni) is a very good actor. If you watch one of the videos we did, where he is asking me what’s there in the film, the scripted lines were just five-six. I came up with some lines, just like that and he reacted on them. Then I reacted, then he did. So he is a very good actor,” he said in an interview.
In 2010, Dhoni acted in a film called Hook Ya Crook directed by David Dhawan. The film had John Abrahan as its lead actor and was based on a cricketer’s life but unfortunately it never got a chance to release. It also had Kay Kay Menon and Genelia D’Souza.
What MS Dhoni says about his Biopic:
“One thing I told Pandey (director Neeraj) is that this movie should not be to glorify me. It’s about the journey of a professional sportsperson and that’s what it should depict,” Dhoni told the media in New York where he is promoting the film, along with his wife Sakshi.
“All those things that had happened became fresh in my memory – from where I lived, how my school was, where we played. I went blank. It was nice to be in the past for a moment and you get a view of what others think about me. I have never talked to my parents about cricket and it was nice to get a glimpse of what they really thought about me,” he said.
“I was a little worried when initially the concept of the movie came but once we were in, I was not worried about it as I was just narrating my side of the story,” he further added.
“Acting is very difficult job which should be left to the actors, who know what to do,” he said with a smile.
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is releasing on September 30.
