Critics might have hype Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil more than blueish Shivaay but the Ajay Devgan starer Shivaay is giving the edge competition at the box office. The film has so far collected 70.41 crore rupees. The film started a slower note on catching audience on the silver screen that Ae Dil hai Mushkil, but the collection is almost nearby big banner Bollywood masala movie ADHM.

Shivaay has collected a total of Rs 70.41 crore net at the Indian box office in the first week.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared, “#Shivaay Fri 10.24 cr, Sat 10.06 cr, Sun 8.26 cr, Mon 17.35 cr, Tue 11.05 cr, Wed 7.40 cr, Thu 6.05 cr. Total: ₹ 70.41 cr. India biz.” Shivaay has some breathtaking action sequences and is shot in exotic locations. It has also introduced new actors. Sayyeshaa Saigal, who made her debut in Shivaay, earlier said that working in the film was a learning experience for her.

“For the first time, I saw a film camera on the set. I didn’t have any reference when I went to the set of Akhil (her first Telegu film)… I learned there about the angles and lighting. However, of course, ‘Shivaay’ set up and the unit was much bigger … it was a very big learning experience for me,” she said in an exclusive interview.

Ajay Devgan, who is directing a film after eight long years, took almost two years to complete the film. The film released on October 28 along with the Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starer.

The budget of Shivaay is Rs 105 crore, if ‘official’ figures are to be taken in consideration. It will take this Ajay Devgan film some time to recover that money, and then go on to becoming a hit. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, on the other hand, is said to have a budget of Rs 70 crore. The Karan Johar film has already crossed that mark in six days of release.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay have collected Rs 150.6 crore net at the Indian box office in seven days. Their first-week domestic gross business has reached Rs 200.77 crore, which happens to be the highest amount earned by Diwali releases in the domestic market in the recent years.
